American University of Ras Al Khaimah hosts 3rd Global Day

Prof. Dr. Hassan Hamdan Alalkim, President of American University of Ras Al Khaimah, inaugurated the activities of the Third Global Day in which the university administration and students took part enthusiastically.

The highlight of the celebrations was an international exhibition in which students of different nationalities displayed culture and art of respective countries, in the presence of academic and administrative staff, faculty, cultural attachés from different embassies, as well as parents.

Prof. Dr. Alalkim visited the pavilions, including the UAE booth, and commended the students for projecting the rich national identity of the UAE. Different pavilions showcased the unique national identity through the exhibits that included traditional paintings. There were also pavilion of Arab countries and other states, highlighting the national heritage through photographs, sculptures, handicrafts and cuisine. The celebration also witnessed folk and cultural performances, bringing alive the unique traditions of different countries represented at the university.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Alalkim lauded the concept of the Global Day, which aims to introduce different cultures to the student community, and commended the efforts of the students in making the event a success. He praised the work teams for helping assemble the exhibits and products of heritage and culture that led to the presence of 18 Arab and other countries taking part in an environment of diversity and multiculturalism which are the hallmarks of the American University of Ras Al Khaimah. He said, “Such events help cultivate respect for and understanding of the culture, customs and traditions of different people.”

“The event provided an opportunity for students and staff to highlight the essence of different nations’ cultures and national identity. We are delighted with the enthusiasm displayed by our students of different nationalities, who took great pains to bring alive the cultures of their countries. We strongly support such activities as it boosts the spirit of multiculturalism, and cultivates in the students a feeling of oneness and coexistence among all peoples of the world,” said Prof. Dr. Alalkim.
