Preparations are underway for a special open-air, but tented, ARTE Market, as part of Dubai Culture’s 2014 Dubai Art Season activities, all set to happen this Saturday, 5th April 2014 at Bay Avenue Park on Bay Avenue from 12 noon until 10pm.

The new outdoor ARTE Market at Bay Avenue Park will also offer a fine spread of F&B choices at the adjoining mall, alongside the many other festivities organised outdoors in the Bay Avenue Park.

Moreover, ARTE’s market schedule will continue in April with the ARTE Market in Dubai Festival City Mall marked for this Friday, 4th April (12pm-9pm) and the following Friday, 11th May, 2014 in Times Square Center (12pm-7pm).

Don’t miss what promises to be three spectacular markets, full of distinctive pieces of jewellery, trendy fashion, interior products, beautiful ceramics, fashionable accessories and traditional crafts, by 50 to 250 artisans at the forefront of their disciplines.

At the market you can meet face to face with the designers at their stalls, who will be more than happy to explain the inspiration and creation behind their unique products. Most vendors also offer custom-made services where you can commission your own piece.

Here is your chance to encourage and support the city’s independent creative community. Don’t expect to find mass produced or imported goods here. What you will find are talented artists handpicked for their artistry skills and unique vision offering items you never knew existed and that you may never see again. Expect the unexpected, including reconstructed clothing, handcrafted jewellery, whimsical and alternative plush toys, screen-printing, avant-garde art and much more!

Market founders – Miriam Walsh and Paul Townsend – have set up this popular market in September of 2005 and for the past 9 years, drawing the finest talent in the country and attracting locals and tourists, who look forward to the vast array of original arts and crafts on display and for sale.

Having a strong social consciousness, ARTE supports many charities such as Feline Friends, Al Ihsan Ajman charity, KIVA, K9 Friends, Rashid Center for Special Needs, SNF Development Center. The support through and by ARTE reaches far and afield.

Moreover, Feline Friends, who is a permanent fixture now at both the venues in Festival City Mall and Times Square Center will continue with their fundraising second-hand book sale. They offer an environmentally friendly (and budget friendly) option to stocking your library with wonderful books.

All books at the sale are donations from the community, and are in fair to good condition. Both fiction of all genres and non-fiction will be available.
