Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai,” said H.E. Buamim adding that the e-commerce platform’s objective is to serve the business community by offering them innovative solutions in online trading while supporting the overall growth of the emirate’s business environment.

He also stressed that the signing of the MoUwith Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority will strengthen the partnership between the two organisations as DAFZA’s joining of the Dubai Chamber e-commerce portal will create new market opportunities for its member companies registered and operating in the free zone.

Dr. Al Zarooni expressed delight over the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding that will allow DAFZA to be part of the e-commerce club launched by Dubai Chamber in collaboration with leading Chinese group, Alibaba. He stressed that the move signifies an important step in the efforts to consolidate DAFZA’s leading position as one of the most sophisticated free zones in the world and as a main gate to attract international investors and increase more foreign capital inflows and multinational companies.

Al Zarooni also stressed that joining the e-commerce club reflects DAFZA’s commitment to support the initiatives of smart transformation pursued by the emirate, which is in line with the vision and directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

He added, “We are highly optimistic and confident that the joint cooperation between DAFZA and Dubai Chamber will allow us to take advantage of a wide range of programmes and facilities that will support our efforts to drive in promising opportunities in order to achieve the aspirations of the UAE’s wise leadership to position the UAE among the ranks of the most developed nations in the world.”

The portal has various tiers of membership which offer a number of benefits like the access to the knowledge centre and e-commerce MENA region club, training and awareness sessions on e-commerce organised by Dubai Chamber and Alibaba.com

The members also get an accredited digital certificate which confirms to customers, suppliers and vendors that the company has established a reputable name in the market. Uploaded on the company’s e-profile, this certificate enhances the company’s reputation, increases its exposure and visibility to quality buyers, which in turn will boost its sales growth and reduce transaction costs. The Verified Membership of the online portal has reached 12,000.

Dubai Chamber has earlier signed MoUs with Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah Chambers as well as Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to grant portal access and exclusive benefits to their members.
Alibaba.com is a leading global e-commerce platform used by 40 million users around the world showcasing 2.8 million supplier storefronts. Dubai Chamber has last year established a partnership with Alibaba.com to launch a MENA portal www.dubaichamber.com/alibaba to offer businesses in the MENA region a unique opportunity to create new market prospects and to start connecting and selling their products and services to businesses worldwide.
