DHA Director-General meets Secretary General of French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A delegation headed by His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority(DHA) met with Pierre Sellal, Secretary General of the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs during his tour to France.

The meeting was attended by H.E Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al Zaabi, UAE deputy Chargé d’affaires for France and a number of high ranking officials.

Maidoor stressed on the importance of building cooperation and effective partnership between both countries in the various healthcare fields

Sellal praised the strategic partnership between the two countries and highlighted France’s support of Dubai EXPO2020. He said that the French government is ready to provide any kind of support to the UAE to ensure the success of this event.

The two sides discussed cooperation particularly in the field of medical education, genetic mapping and methods to identify and combat infectious viruses.

He said: “We welcome the DHA’s initiative to send DHA staff to the most prestigious medical universities, research universities and hospitals in France for further education. We guarantee to provide support to the professionals coming from the UAE.”

He said the two sides will collaborate in the field of medical research and keeping the needs of the Emirate in mind, collaboration will take place in the field of thalassemia, neurosurgery and viral infections.

In terms of tracking and following the movement of viral infections, the DHA, WHO and medical universities in France will be linked so that they can effectively identify and tackle any infectious viruses. Building this infrastructure is important as Dubai will host Expo2020 and more than 60 million people are expected to visit the Emirate.

Al Maidoor said that he was pleased with the meaningful collaboration between Dubai and France. He said the DHA aims to strengthen medical research in the Emirate and that the Authority is pleased to have signed agreements with prestigious French medical universities during this tour.

Al Maidoor explained the Dubai Health Sector Strategy 2025 which is line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai a hub for medical tourism. It is also aligned to HH Sheikh Mohammed’s Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 and the aim is to provide the population of Dubai and visitors with access to internationally-recognised levels of healthcare

Al Maidoor and senior officials from the DHA will be heading to Netherlands and Germany as part of the European leg of their tour. The DHA delegation headed by Al Maidoor includes Eng. Ali Al Mazyood, Dr. Khaldoon Nabhan, Dr. Alya Al Mazrouei, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Jassmi, Dr. Mansoor Nazari, Dr Philippe Macaire Dr. Mona Al Mazrouei, Mr. Ahmad Al Umari, Abdulrahman Al Owghani, Dr. Zeyad Alrais, Dr. Jamal AlMulla, Dr. Bilal El Yafawi, and Mahmoud Yousef.
