Dubai to host 15th Spine Conference and 10th Pan Arab Spine Society Congress

Under the patronage of the Chairperson of Dubai Healthcare City Authority HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the 15th Spine Conference and the 10th Pan Arab Spine Society Congress was inaugurated at the Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai by HE Raja Al Gurg, Vice-Chairperson of Dubai Healthcare City Authority.

The four-day event was organized by the Neuro Spinal Hospital, Dubai, in collaboration with Pan Arab Spine Society Congress and with the participation of the Spine Society of Europe and the Pan Arab Union of Neurological Societies.

The conference focused on three main themes: Spinal traumatic injuries, means of prevention of repetitive spinal surgical intervention and surgical repair of peripheral nerves. Conference attendees constituted over 400 esteemed neuro- and spinal surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, neuro-rehabilitation practitioners, physical therapists and orthopedics specialists from the UAE, Gulf countries and all over the world. Attendees explored the latest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, and benefit from the distinguished international medical experts invited to the conference.

In parallel to the conference, a number of training workshops were organised, targeting medical specialists interested in this important field. The workshops included training on micro-surgery of the spine, mirco- neurosurgery, cervical spine surgery and peripheral nerve surgery.

Dr. Abdul Karim Msaddi, president of the Pan Arab Neurosurgical Society (PANS) and president of the conference, stressed the importance of this international scientific gathering on spinal surgery, which offers UAE physicians and professionals working in this field the latest medical expertise and global findings in this field.

This conference aims at providing valuable moral support to our doctors and surgeons, as well as enhancing Dubai’s reputation as a distinct destination for scientific and medical tourism. Dr. Msaddi added, “This year’s conference attracted a number of the most esteemed senior surgeons and distinguished scholars in the field of neurosurgery and spinal surgery and medicine from around the world, such as Prof. David Wong from the United States, Prof. Vivian Mashour from Canada, professors Bernard Meyer and Henry Halm from Germany, professors Jane Charles Lee Hoek, Richard Osakr, and Wafa Scully from France, Prof. Alberto Zerbi from Italy, Prof. Ciaran Bolger from Ireland, Prof. Mark Zsbalski from Belgium, and other globally renowned professors and doctors in this field.”

Dr Msaddi thanked the Dubai Health Authority and the Ministry of Health in the United Arab Emirates for their efforts in the development of the medical sector, as well as their unlimited support when it comes to hosting important scientific and medical events, research workshops and medical training.

He underlined the importance of the Dubai Spine Conference, saying: “This conference, which has become the most important for spine surgery physicians in the Arab world and the Middle East, has succeeded in accumulating relevant experience in this field. The 15th edition of the conference held this year is the largest of its kind, availing new experiences and modern advances in the field to specialists. Dubai is hosting the elite of the brightest pioneers in this medical field, including prominent surgeons from the United States, Europe, Asia, the Arab countries and beyond, bringing with them the latest scientific research, discoveries and findings that will contribute to further advancements in diagnosis, surgery, and treatment techniques.”

A medical exhibition by major international companies concerned with the development and marketing of the latest medical technology devices in this field were held on the sidelines of the conference. The exhibition offered an opportunity for physicians and specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, spine surgery and neuro-rehabilitation, to explore the latest techniques designed for diagnostic, surgical, and rehabilitation purposes. Such an opportunity is vital for doctors to advance their careers and enhance their performance, especially in light of the rapid pace of scientific progress in this field.
