Dubai to host a scientific conference on autism treatment with unconventional therapy approaches

Under the motto “Breaking Down the Spectrum”, Sensation Station, an innovative, multidisciplinary, private therapy centre providing services for children with a variety of special needs and developmental challenges, will organise a scientific conference at the Mövenpick Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel on Monday January 5th. Supported by Dubai Health Authority, the event will see the participation of a host of international specialists who will share knowledge with the audience on latest methods and approaches on autism treatments.

Titled “Inspirational Modern Approaches to Autism Spectrum Disorder”, the conference will feature 5 sessions, followed by a panel discussion and a Q&A session.

“Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Autism” will be highlighted at one of the conference sessions by Grainne Boyle, Educational Psychologist, Samira Cutts, Occupational Therapist, and Nisha Mistry, Speech & Language Therapist, all three are from Sensation Station. Other speakers at the conference include Professor Pamela Heaton, Prof. of Psychology, Goldsmiths University UK, Sam Rao, Founder & Director of XY Clinic, UAE, Dr. Asma Sadiq, Director of Child Development, Beth Hospital, New York, USA, and Kathy Hoopmann, Author and Presenter.

The conference organiser, Sensation Station, aims to attract audience from therapy centre employees, medical and health care professionals, education professionals, teachers, nursery staff and families and parents with special needs children.

Speakers at the conference will showcase unconventional therapy approaches to autism treatment and management, such as Music Therapy, Art Therapy/Sensory Art Therapy and Multi-Sensory Intervention. They will present actual cases that made significant improvement after being treated with unconventional therapy approaches.
