Egypt earmarks $19m to subsidise women, children’s health insurance

The Egyptian finance ministry has approved the allocation of EGP135.6m ($19.3m) for the state’s programmes to subsidise the healthcare of children and female heads of households, Ahram has reported. The amount includes the third and fourth instalments of the two governmental programmes to subsidise children and female breadwinners during the fiscal year 2013/14. The total number of programme beneficiaries is more than 14 million people, said the ministry.
