Egypt seeks to increase animal production trade with Russia
Egypt and Russia are currently looking to increase the trade exchange in various fields of animal production (dairy and meat products).
Dr Essam Fayed, minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, said on Saturday: “the ministry is currently negotiating an agreement with the Russian veterinary authorities to start exporting Egyptian dairy products to Russia.”
Fayed explained that seven Egyptian companies had been registered and approved for exporting their dairy products, reports Egypt-based Alwafd.
A statement of the Ministry for Agriculture quoted the minister as saying: “There will be coordination with the Russian side to check the Russian slaughterhouses, which will import meat.”
He added: “slaughterhouses will be accredited in accordance with international standards adopted by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the World Organisation of Animal Health (OIE) to prepare for importing operations from Russian ports.”
