May 19, 2014 9:21 am

In line with the vision of the Saudi Ministry of Health to strengthen the Kingdom’s healthcare infrastructure as part of its ‘Patient First’ strategy, and to build the competencies of Saudi professionals, GE Healthcare (NYSE: GE) will focus on building public private partnerships and knowledge sharing through its participation at Saudi Health 2014.

Organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Health, the premier healthcare exhibition will be held from May 19 to 21 at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center, with GE as a Platinum Sponsor.

A walk-through of GE Healthcare’s pavilion offers visitors insights into the modern hospital environment with special sections dedicated to different medical specialities and showcasing the advanced offerings of GE in the field. The pavilion will include segments for cardiology, woman & child care, oncology, radiology, critical care, the operating room and other advanced solutions.

Mazen Dalati, President & CEO for GE Healthcare in Saudi Arabia, said, “Saudi Health is one of the strategic platforms for us to network with the Kingdom’s healthcare professionals in the public and private sector. With the Kingdom taking concerted efforts to boost the healthcare sector through new infrastructure and human capital development, we are leveraging the exhibition to highlight the value that we can bring to the industry through our advanced technologies that enhance operational efficiency.”

“We are also putting the spotlight on our healthymagination initiative that focuses on creating innovative systems for quality, accessible and affordable healthcare to meet the Kingdom’s requirements, especially to address the rising incidence of lifestyle diseases. Central to our participation will be a clear emphasis on further building the skills of Saudi professionals through knowledge sharing and long-term partnerships,” he added.

At Saudi Health, GE Healthcare is displaying its newest technologies under the theme, ‘Advancing Healthcare Together.’ New products in cardiology and oncology will be highlighted, which help meet the Kingdom’s focus on managing lifestyle diseases including heart diseases and cancer that also contribute to rising healthcare costs. A new product that GE Healthcare will introduce at Saudi Health 2014 is Revolution CT, a first-of-its-kind computed tomography (CT) system, combining wide coverage, high spatial resolution and high temporal resolution technology into an ‘all in one’ CT system. This innovative technology enables clinicians to non-invasively visualize the human heart more clearly than ever before, and diagnose more patients with erratic or high heart beats.

In the field of Oncology, PET/CT imaging can be an invaluable diagnostic tool for monitoring cancer treatment. It can also help clinicians tailor a regimen of therapies to fit their patients’ individual needs. GE Healthcare’s Discovery 710 Elite is designed to enable a whole new level of performance by incorporating high sensitivity and low dose innovations with new quantitative tools that generate more consistent PET measurements, enabling clinicians to more accurately assess treatment response to support more personalized care, into a premium platform.

GE Healthcare’s latest innovation, the Lullaby Resus Plus, gives healthcare providers an integrated, simple and efficient device to perform neonatal resuscitation quickly to provide more effective and efficient care to the infants. Also available to healthcare providers in Middle East, are GE’s Giraffe Omnibed, a richly-featured neonatal microenvironment that combines the thermal advantages of a double-wall incubator with the access advantages of an open bed radiant warmer, and the new Giraffe Blue Spot PT Lite which offers high-intensity phototherapy that is easy on patients and caregivers alike.

With over 25 years of operations in Saudi Arabia, today, over 20,000 GE Healthcare technologies are deployed across the Kingdom’s hospitals. To support localization and Saudi human capital development for the healthcare sector, GE Healthcare and King Fahad Medical City have signed a definitive agreement to set up a comprehensive ‘Healthcare Skills Training Institute’ within KFMC, as part of GE’s $1bn investment commitment in the Kingdom. GE Healthcare has also launched a nation-wide educational campaign via an interactive Arabic online portal focusing on health issues – www.healthymagination.me – aimed at raising the public’s health awareness and promoting the importance of healthy habits.
