The Saudi government is set to introduce a new law overseeing organic production and sales that includes a fine of up to SR1m for offenders, Arab News has reported. Under the new legislation, inspectors from the agriculture ministry would check markets regularly to see if producers, wholesalers and retailers have the proper certificates and approved stamps to ensure the authenticity of organic products, the ministry said. Each stamp would have a registration number linked to the ministry with the date of production and origin of the product.
