Sir John Armitt, the former chairman of the London Olympic Delivery Authority, will arrive in the region this week to share his vast experience in a lecture entitled Developing Modern Infrastructure.

Sir John, whose illustrious career also included being chief executive of the UK’s Network Rail, is speaking at special events in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha on behalf of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), for whom he is Vice President – International.

Mark Jamieson, ICE UAE Country Representative, says: “At a time when the UAE is preparing to host Expo 2020 in Dubai and Qatar is gearing up to host the FIFA 2022 World Cup, Sir John’s deep knowledge will provide a valuable and timely insight into the successful delivery of major infrastructure programmes.”

The first date of the tour (Thursday 13th March), will be at the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa, including a reception on the hotel lawns. This will be followed by events in Doha (Sunday 16 March) and Dubai (Monday 17 March).

The event is being hosted thanks to generous industry support, including: Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (UAE Platinum Sponsor); Atkins (UAE Gold Sponsor); CH2MHill (UAE Silver Sponsor and Venue Sponsor for Qatar); and Polypipe (UAE Silver Sponsor).

The Doha lecture is sold out but a small number of places remain for the UAE lectures and receptions.
