The Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI); operating under the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, announced its sponsorship of INJAZ-Kuwait’s ‘Steer Your Career’ and ‘Company’ programs that are implemented across universities in Kuwait through 14 classes.

The programs are currently being implemented at the Australian College of Kuwait, Boxhill College of Kuwait, Kuwait University and GUST. Both programs were initiated in March, 2014 and will be concluded in May, 2014.

Commenting on these programs and sponsorship, Rana Al-Nibari, CEO of INJAZ-Kuwait, said, “These programs are two of the most exciting programs INJAZ Kuwait offers. They allow students to perceive the work environment from a more realistic view and engage in a ‘first-hand’ experience.”

“I would like to thank MEPI for their support. It is wonderful to receive the support of companies and organizations that share the same passion and vision. Only with these common ingredients will we witness the changes we aspire to achieve,” she added.

The ‘Steer Your Career’ program is an all-new program that targets university students with the aim to teach them the skills required to find a job and in turn, operate effectively in a competitive job environment. The different sessions of this program cover aspects of leadership, time management, communications, team dynamics and job search skills.

The ‘Company’ program is a more hands-on based program, which allows students to enter a ‘real life business’ experience. This is achieved through the different elements of the program which entails turning a classroom into a real start-up with the help of a mentor or an entrepreneur. Students from the university level are assigned to come up with a business idea, study its feasibility, sell stocks to raise capital and divide themselves into efficient management teams. The teams are then required to design a business plan, produce and sell a product or service, and then liquidate the company. This program ends with an exciting competition every year.

U.S. Embassy Cultural Attache Todd Bullock: “We look forward to a partnership with INJAZ Kuwait on the ‘Steer Your Career’ project through the Middle Eastern Partnership Initiative (MEPI). This project will enhance Kuwaiti students’ skills to prepare them for career opportunities in the private sector. Supporting and promoting young Kuwaiti entrepreneurs is a U.S. Embassy focus and we look forward to working with INJAZ Kuwait on this meaningful project.
