Minister Todd McClay launches New Zealand Food Week.

New Zealand’s Associate Minister of Trade, Todd McClay has launched New Zealand’s inaugural Food Week in Dubai, a celebration of high quality culinary products, fresh from New Zealand.

With seventy-six New Zealand products now available on UAE supermarket shelves, New Zealand Food Week showcases a range of high quality produce to Dubai consumers.

“The GCC has been a significant market for New Zealand for a number of decades. Our two-way trade with the region is just shy of $5 billion, making it an important trading partner. It is encouraging to see an increased appetite for New Zealand food and beverage on the supermarket shelves in Dubai” says Mr McClay.

Minister McClay was accompanied by NZ Trade Commissioner Haylon Smith and Spinneys Commercial and Logistics General Manager Tinus Hendrikse to launch the week at Spinneys Mercato mall.

“New Zealand has traditionally been associated with dairy and meat commodity exports and while the supply of these products remains strong, the list of available food products in the United Arab Emirates retail sector continues to grow, rising from thirteen products in 2013, to a staggering seventy-six today,” says Mr Smith.

The premium New Zealand produce is being sampled across ten Spinneys stores from 12-19 February. This will include customer sampling, promotions and information about New Zealand produce.
