According to figures released by the Omani health ministry, more Omanis are turning to private hospitals for healthcare, despite the high costs involved, Times of Oman has reported. Omani citizens constitute almost half of the total beneficiaries of private hospitals for any medical and health care requirements, although the government provides fully free health insurance for Omanis. The data indicates there were 46.8% Omanis among a total of 45,654 patients who were admitted and treated in private hospitals. There were 1,319358 outpatient visits at 11 private hospitals and health centres in the country during 2012, the data showed.
