Oman’s medical city set for completion in 2020

Oman’s health ministry has said the construction of a major medical city in the suburbs of Muscat is expected to begin in the near future and will be completed in 2020, Times of Oman has reported. “The project is in the first stage of choosing a project manager; we will start the tendering process for construction,” said, undersecretary of the ministry for planning affairs, Ali Talib Al Hinai. “The components have already been finalised and we hope that work will start soon,” he said. The medical city will consist of five hospitals, namely a general hospital, a paediatrics hospital, an organ transplant hospital, a neuroscience hospital and a trauma hospital. Additionally, a rehabilitation centre, an imaging centre and a laboratory centre will be built in the medical city, Al Hinai said.
