Hospital Build & Infrastructure Middle East is a leading industry exhibition which covers the full sphere of healthcare design, construction, innovation and management solutions.

Philips Lighting is the platinum sponsor of two leading conferences to be held at the event – Hospitals of the Future and Architects’ Congress.

Healthcare is an ever-evolving industry and healthcare operators as well as providers constantly feel the need for innovative hospital design and patient service delivery models to keep up-to-date. New developments and advancements in technology have enabled healthcare facilities to equip themselves with the latest cutting-edge diagnostic systems, surgical tools and IT structures. Hospitals of the Future, taking place on 2nd and 3rd June as part of the exhibition, will enable attendees to discover the latest innovations in design, infrastructure and functionality that will help create hospitals of the future.

The region sees tremendous amount of investment, especially in the Middle East’s healthcare industry. This makes it even more essential to build healthcare environments using the most sustainable solutions that will last long term. The Architects’ Congress held on 2nd and 3rd June is a gathering of like-minded architects, engineers and healthcare professionals aiming to illustrate the latest regional and international design innovations.

Rami Hajjar, General Manager, Philips Lighting Middle East said: “Philips’ vision is to make the world healthier and more sustainable through meaningful innovation. Hospital Build & Infrastructure Middle East is a great platform to encourage the significance of green hospital lighting solutions and encourage its use as standard across the region. This transformation is taking place and healthcare providers are realizing benefits.”

As part of its sustainable hospital lighting solutions, Philips offers HealWell which is the world’s first total lighting concept for patient rooms. HealWell is an innovative lighting solution that is designed to help improve patients’ health and well-being in hospitals. Independent research has shown that the more time patients spend in daylight, or artificial light that mimics natural light, the better it is their biological response to healing and therapy. As a result HealWell uses an intelligent networked control system, as well as dynamic shades of warm and cool light, to support patients’ biorhythms throughout the day.

Using the HealWell solution has shown to improve patients’ comfort, mood, sleep and overall well-being, and in turn speeds up their recovery in a more positive healing environment.

The Philips HealWell lighting solution doesn’t just provide a pleasant ambience for patients; it is also shown to improve staff performance with its dynamic Lighting, creating a positive impact for everyone In Doha, Qatar, Philips has previously installed the HealWell solution at the Skilled Nursing Facility of Hamad Medical Corporation to enhance the healing environment within its premises.

Improving patient recovery using light alleviates some pressure on hospitals in the region, where demand for beds is set to double by 2025, with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates registering the greatest percentage increase in demand for hospital beds.
