During the conference

Paris Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi under the patronage and with the presence of HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, youth and community development, hosted the VIII Conference for the presidents of Universities in the Middle East CONFREMO in cooperation with the Agence Universitaire de la Francohponie.

CONFREMO aims to address regional and international challenges, develop future plans between universities of the Middle East, shed light on the role of universities in disseminating and promoting knowledge and culture among students to become active members of society.

The conference was held with the participation of a number of presidents and representatives of Francophone universities from member states, in addition to ambassadors of francophone countries. CONFREMO is known for its special nature, purpose and aspirations. Indeed, it aims to support all activities towards realizing excellence and improving performance in the university governance, training and research.

Professor Eric Fouache, PSUAD vice chancellor welcomed participants saying that this was a historical moment for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in its aim to become a regional educational and cultural hub in line with the AD 2030 Vision and positions Abu Dhabi on the international educational scene.

Professor Fouache added that “Organizing CONFREMO in Abu Dhabi also sheds light on the important role played by the UAE in the Agence de la Francophonie in which it has been an observer since 2010. It also reflects the important role played by PSUAD in implementing the Abu Dhabi vision turning the capital into a cultural and educational hub. Indeed it has a precious contribution through providing the future workforce and participates in the economic diversification in the UAE.”

Fouache indicated that the Francophonie does not seek to eliminate the English language but rather to educate leaders who master French, English and Arabic through culture and sharing of ideas. It’s always a good idea to train them on cultural interaction. He indicated that the teaching methodology, learning and degrees in PSUAD all follow the French System and are delivered by Paris Sorbonne University in humanities, by Paris Descartes University in Law, business and economics, and by Pierre and Marie Curie university in Sciences. We grant our students a world-class Parisian education. We offer them sophisticated degrees from our Paris Universities and students are conscious we always place them at the forefront of their professional dreams.
