Russian Folklore entertains Al Qasba visitors

March 16, 2014 2:42 pm

Al Qasba hosted the Russian Folklore Show, featuring the gifted performers from Cities’ Life, a multi-talented folk arts group from Russia, which celebrated the rich folklore traditions of the people of Russia.

Performers of all ages were resplendent in their handmade national costumes, created using animal fur and traditional embroidery. One element to especially look out for will, undoubtedly, be the Khomus or mouth harp, the almost otherworldly tones of which are an inextricable part of the folklore music of the region.

This show gave visitors to Al Qasba a glimpse into the delicate balance of life in the harsh yet beautiful environment of the Sakha Yakutia region through a host of traditional song and dance performances, depicting the people’s relationship with their natural environment. The audience had the chance to enjoy traditional dances, ceremonies and theatrical performances all portraying the history of the Yakut people.

Al Qasba prides itself on giving its visitors the opportunity to enjoy culture, entertainment and leisure attractions representing the very best from the Arab world and beyond, as well as being an outstanding family destination with a range of activities that caters to people of all ages.

Spread over 10,000 hectares, Al Qasba boasts a range of state-of-the-art facilities and tourist attractions including, among others, various restaurants and cafes, the 250-seat Masrah Al Qasba-Theatre, Multaqa Al Qasba-Conference and Meeting Halls, Al Qasba Business Centre, Kids Fun Zone, Al Qasba Musical Fountain, Eye of the Emirates Wheel, and Maraya Art Centre.
