Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan honours UAE’s newest Associate Chartered Accountants

H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, celebrated the achievements of the country’s newly-qualified ICAEW Associate Chartered Accountants (ACA) during a graduation ceremony at Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai.

Certificates were presented to 22 graduates in recognition of their successful completion of all the examinations required for the prestigious ACA qualification. Awarded by ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales), a world leader of the accountancy and finance profession, the qualification provides applicants with the opportunity to gain the depth and breadth of accountancy, finance and business skills, knowledge and experience they needto succeed as a chartered accountant, and helps prepare them to become the leaders of the future.

Among the graduates were the first Emiratis to obtain the ACA qualification locally, Saeed Al Madani, Senior Auditor at Mubadala and Mohammad Zamani, Auditor at KPMG and the first Emirati to successfully complete the ICAEW Emirati Scholarship Scheme (IESS). The scholarship was launched in 2010, under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, to attract top Emirati students into the accountancy and finance profession.

Internationally recognised as the premier financial business qualification in 160 countries, the ACA from ICAEW is held by more than 142,000 professionals. Individuals who wish to qualify as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant must successfully complete theoretical assessments and extensive practical work experience.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Peter Beynon, ICAEW Regional Director Middle East, said: “We are honoured to have the support of H.E.
