Shurooq to renovate Souq Al Shanasiyah

June 30, 2014 6:26 am

The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has launched a project to renovate the emirate’s Souq Al Shanasiyah, which in the 1950s was a bustling trade hub with merchants travelling from neighbouring countries and farther to do business, Khaleej Times has reported. Shurooq is rebuilding the historical souq at the Heart of Sharjah, the largest historical preservation and restoration project in the region, on the same old foundations on Bank Street discovered after a radar survey. The project is expected to be completed by September.
