Tamkeen supports development of agriculture sector

Tamkeen is supporting the participation of 26 businesses and Bahraini farmers at this year’s Bahrain International Garden Show. The support comes as part of Tamkeen’s drive to enhance the Bahrain’s private sector and boost its contribution to economic development.

The total support provided to those businesses and farmers is around BD 50,500, and comes through Tamkeen’s “Tarweej” scheme, one of the many business support schemes under its flagship Enterprise Development Support Scheme, among which is support to participate in exhibitions and trade fairs held in Bahrain and abroad.

The businesses and farmers served through the scheme a wide variety of agricultural activities, including plant and flower production, landscaping and gardening tools products and services, farming and irrigation equipment, vegetable, fruit, and foodstuff production, to name a few.

Commenting on the announcement, Tamkeen’s Vice-President of Private Sector Support Mr. Mohammed Bucheery said, “Tamkeen continues to be a key partner in supporting the development of the agricultural sector and the National Initiative for Agricultural Development The sector is at the very heart of national food security, and a key growth sector to boost economic development.”

The event opens its doors to the public from February 27 to March 1, 2014 at the Bahrain International Convention and Exhibition Centre, and is held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, and the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development.
