UAE announces AED300 billion Higher Policy for post-oil world

The UAE announced its post-oil policy and called it the Higher Policy for Science, Technology and Innovation. The policy includes 100 initiatives and investments worth AED300 billion.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Dubai, says that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has announced the adoption of the policy.

He adds that the policy includes new national policies in legislation, investment, technology, education and finance away from oil, reports Saudi-based Argaam.

The Higher Policy includes 100 national initiatives in the sectors of education, health, energy, transportation, space and water, in addition to tripling the spending on scientific research until 2021.

The policy also includes support for funding space research, specialised aviation industries, investment and legislative incentives to attract the global pharmaceutical industry and to support solar energy and peaceful nuclear energy programs and robotics research, artificial intelligence and genome research, and investment in invisible infrastructure such as training, education and research and development.
