Premium audio producer Bang & Olufsen is making sure its 90th anniversary celebration is both picture- and pitch-perfect.

After three years in the making, the Danish company has finally pulled the curtains off its latest state-of-the-art digital loudspeaker for home use, the BeoLab 90.

Price tag? A whopping €70,000 (AED350,000) for a pair, which you need in order to enjoy a complete listening experience.

Deliveries of the luxurious product for the UAE will start later this December.

Why €70,000?

The digital loudspeaker, the brand’s most expensive product in the current lineup, is the result of both premium design and fine acoustic engineering. It is fitted with “Active Room Compensation”, a technology that preserves the quality of sound at home by compensating for the impact of sound in the room and on the furniture, taking into consideration the placement of the speakers and the location of listening.

“This intelligent loudspeaker measures the acoustical effects of its surroundings and directs superb sound to your favourite listening position,” says Tue Mantoni, Bang & Olufsen’s CEO.

“You do not have to be close to the speaker or even in front of it to get an excellent sound experience,” he adds.

The “Beam Width Control,” enables one to adjust the “width of sound beam to suit different listening situations,” explains a statement released by the brand, which adds that with a simple button, the listener can concentrate sound to a single spot in the room, or expand the beam for the high-quality sound to reach all across the room, such as watching a movie or having a house gathering.

Moreover, the “Beam Direction Control” allows the user to steer sound towards the direction they are listening from.

Artistic structure

With no apparent visual front, the BeoLab 90 boasts an impressive 360-degree appearance with no single visual front.

To break it down, the 360-degree design is all based on a single aluminum cabinet weighing more than 65 kg for a solid structure. This is lifted up from the floor by a curved wooden base, adding to its visual appeal.

“BeoLab 90 is our most complete loudspeaker to date. Future Bang & Olufsen products will benefit from the innovation and know-how gained from the development of BeoLab 90 and our customers will savor perfect sound from the ultimate loudspeaker for their home,” Montani says.

The brand posted the below video on its YouTube Channel earlier this month, providing a sneak peek into the making of BeoLab 90.
