Etisalat, the UAE’s leading telecommunication services provider, has introduced 12-month easy payment plans for the purchase of the latest smartphones, with zero per cent interest.

The telecom major has tied up with Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Emirates Islamic Bank, Emirates NBD, National Bank of Abu Dhabi and Mashreq Bank to provide both post and pre-paid customers with an alternative, more convenient option for purchasing premium smartphones and devices.

Under the scheme, customers can buy the latest Apple, Samsung, BlackBerry, Nokia or Huawei smartphones using the banks’ credit card and avail of a 12-month installment scheme.

Khaled ElKhouly, Chief Marketing Officer at Etisalat UAE, said: “The UAE’s smartphone penetration is among the highest in the world but we understand some consumers may be unable to purchase their desired phone. We are committed to offering the best value services and offers to our customers and we want to make buying a smartphone as convenient and affordable as possible.”

The payment plans offer significant savings to customers and new smartphones will be added as they come on the market. For example, the cost of adding a 1GB data package in addition to purchasing the iPhone 5s (16GB) handset is AED40, which represents a 60 per cent reduction on the original monthly rental cost for 1GB of data. The iPhone 5s is also available on a 5GB package for high data users.

To avail of the offer, customers must purchase the device with the partnered banks credit card from any Etisalat business centre or outlet. After making the purchase the customer should call their bank within three working days to request to be switched to of the 12 months easy payment plans.

The unique offers are in line with Etisalat’s recent strategy of offering attractive packages for smartphone users. Both prepaid and postpaid customers will also be able to take advantage of Etisalat’s 4G LTE network, which covers 80 per cent of the inhabited area of the country and allows users of 4G phones to connect to the internet at speeds up to 150 Mbps.
