In a pioneering move to exponentially enhance the quality of life in the UAE – guided by UAE vision 2021 and the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai for Dubai to become a Smart City, Du announced ‘WiFi UAE’ – an initiative that provides access to WiFi in public areas for all UAE residents. The project, which takes effect with immediate effect, will start its implementation in Abu Dhabi and Dubai then gradually across the rest of the UAE.

The initiative, which is planned to start immediately at more than 100 prominent locations in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, is envisaged to be rolled out to the rest of the UAE in its next phase. Completion of each phase will be announced separately. “WiFi UAE” is designed to help UAE residents harness the power of communication to stay connected with their near and dear ones. In addition to this, UAE residents as well as visitors to the UAE will be able to receive information and guidance on popular tourist landmarks, directions, and other places of interest.

Benchmarking ourselves against the best worldwide and guided by the tenets set forth by the leadership of this country, we are proud to announce “WiFi UAE” that will touch the lives of everyone in the UAE in the way envisioned by our leaders.”

Bin Byat adds: “Within one year, we anticipate that this project will catapult UAE cities at the top league globally. This project will further improve the competitiveness and efficiency of our cities resulting in more productive and happier population.”
