TRA holds 4G LTE workshop in collaboration with Huawei Technologies

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain held a workshop on 4G LTE technology at its Headquarters in collaboration with Huawei Technologies.

Huawei’s Director of Mobile Broadband Network, Business and Network Consultancy Department, Mr. Rafat Tashman, presented the advantages of LTE technology in comparison with previous technologies, such as GSM and UTMS; outlining the latest statistics and approaches taken by LTE service providers in the Middle East, as well as future prospects and developments that could be achieved for mobile phone technologies.

The attendees also discussed the uses and future needs of operators that are relevant to frequency spectrum, specifically on providing faster and higher quality services for consumers. At the end of the workshop, they shed light on the various strategies followed to deploy this technology in different countries in the region.

TRA’s Director of Technical and Operations, Eng. Mohammed Abdulla Alnoaimi has expressed that this workshop comes within the framework of the TRA’s initiatives to cooperate with all telecommunications technology companies, and to take advantage of existing expertise by utilizing it in the telecommunications sector. In addition, this falls under TRA’s continued pursuit of achieving one of its main strategic objectives to make Bahrain’s telecommunications market one of the most technically sophisticated markets in the region, while also ensuring that consumers in the Kingdom have access to the latest telecommunications services with high quality and low prices.
