The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced it has been awarded three separate ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certificates post an independent quality and management systems evaluation by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). LRQA also deemed that the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) policy objectives, targets, management programs both implemented and established at the TRA were ‘satisfactory’.

“Continuing in our commitment to excellence and ensuring we in the UAE meet the very highest of international standards, the TRA is proud to announce its ISO Quality 9001:2008, Environment ISO 14001:2004 and Health and Safety Management system 18001:2007 certifications, which comes as an indication of the priority we assign to implement world class levels of excellence,” said H.E. Ahmed Al Qamzi, TRA CEO.

“Receiving these internationally recognized certifications evidences our success in pursuing a progressive path for the nation’s ICT sector as well as the TRA’s intention to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations for the benefit of the UAE public,” he added.

ISO develops International Standards, including management system standards although is not involved in the certification of any of the standards it develops. Certification is always performed by external certification bodies, which are largely private entities.
