Etihad Airways’ comittee visits Children’s Cancer Hospital in Cairo 57357

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, visited the Children’s Cancer hospital in Cairo 57357, headed by a delegation including, Khaled Al Mehairbi, Etihad Airways Senior Vice President of Government and Aero-political Affairs and Mr Ali Al Shamsi, Head of Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Hub, as well as Magdi Labib, Etihad Airways General Manager in Egypt, to present the donation raised with seven hundred and seventy thousand (770,000) Egyptian Pounds in support of the Children’s Cancer Hospital Foundation 57357 in Egypt through the charity marathon held last earlier this year as part of its ‘Colour Their Lives’ campaign; in addition to distribution of blankets and shirts presented by Ferrari Lounge, Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Khaled al Mehairbi, Etihad Airways Senior Vice President of Government and Aero-political Affairs and Chairman and the Sports and Social Committee, said, “Our donation represents the kindness and generosity of the Etihad Airways staff and the community in Abu Dhabi who participated in our Colour Their Lives Campaign. We are very pleased we can make a positive impact in the lives of the children who receive care at this hospital.” He also added: “As the UAE flag carrier, we are pleased to reaffirm our commitment to society and give back to those in need.”

Donations where collected through the sale of ‘Colour Their Lives’ t-shirts at the marathon which was held at the Abu Dhabi Corniche and saw participation in four categories: adults, children, mother and child and children with special needs that took place on 31st of January 2014.

His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamdan Bin Mohamed Al Nahyan attended the race and distributed the prizes to the winners along with His Excellency Abdulla Rashed Khalaf Al Otaiba, Chairman of the Department of Transport, and His Excellency Major General Obaid Al Hairi Salem Ketbi, Deputy General Commander of Abu Dhabi Police.

Also attending the marathon were Her Excellency Mariam Saif Al Qubaisi, Head of Special Needs Sector at Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs (ZHO), Talal Khouri, Head of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, His Excellency, Ihab Hammouda the Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE, as well as delegates from the Egyptian Embassy, UAE official dignitaries, Egyptian nationals,Prominent Egyptian singer, Ihab Tawfeek, and Business men located in the UAE have all attended this event and have presented donations to this campgain catering for the care of 57357 children.
