Tony Tyler, director general and CEO of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has said that airspace capacity in the Gulf is not keeping pace with growth of the industry, and urged regional countries to improve coordination for airspace management, Muscat Daily has reported. “Gulf governments have understood and acted on the industry’s needs for airport infrastructure,” Tyler said. “Airports here rank among the most impressive in the world. But air traffic delays result because the region’s governments are not managing finite airspace as a common resource.”
