Gulf Air achieves 65% workforce nationalisation rate

Bahrain’s Gulf Air has said it has successfully nationalised 65% of its workforce, Gulf Daily News has reported. The Manama-headquartered carrier now employs 1,541 Bahrainis, out of a total of 2,384 across all levels and departments, compared with 843 expatriates. “We have 201 Bahraini pilots out of a total of 324, which is around 60pc, while only 123 are expatriates,” the kingdom’s transportation minister, Kamal Ahmed, told the parliament. “Bahraini air hostesses are just 238 out of 705, which is 34%, while 467 are expatriates and Bahraini engineers are 56 out of 160, which is 35%, with 104 being expatriates,” said the minister.
