Omani ports register increase in cargo volumes

Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has said the total volume of cargo handled in Sultan Qaboos Port and Salalah Port grew to 5.6 million tonnes by the end of April 2014, compared with 4.3 million tonnes handled the same period a year earlier, Times of Oman has reported. However, the number of mooring vessels at both ports dropped 6.2% to 1,251 vessels during the month from 1,334 vessels by the end of April 2013, the NCSI said.
