Akbar al-Baker, chief executive of Qatar Airway has said the airline is now fully government-owned after the country’s sovereign fund, Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), bought a 50% stake from the Gulf country’s former prime minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani, and other shareholders, Reuters has reported. “We became fully government owned in July last year,” al-Baker told reporters in Dubai. After the ownership change, al-Baker said he’s interested in acquiring a stake in India’s IndiGo airline.
