ATM 2014 to help us establish new relations: Sands GM

The Arabian travel market in Dubai is a dynamic event that will helps the participants to develop new business and allows hotels to establish new relations, according to Sands Hotel general manager Mr Ahmed Haseeb.

In an interview, he said, “The 4-star Sands hotel has drawn up plans to cope with an expected surge in tourists to Abu Dhabi by introducing new services to businessmen, mainly check-in from airport and instant desk check-in.”

Mr Haseeb said, “Sands is already performing well, recording an increase of around 4.2% in occupancy rate in the first quarter of 2014 despite the absence of major events.”

1 – What is the importance of your participation at ATM 2014 in Dubai?
Arabian Travel Market is a dynamic event where hotels, resorts, airlines and travel services agents from six continents come to develop new business. An opportunity for us to meet with the major international and intra-regional leisure tour operators and incentives DMCs. It is also an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with existing contacts and to establish new relations with the new tour operators and DMCs. Arabian Travel Market gives us the chance to update our knowledge and maintain the latest trends and aspects in the tourism industry.

2 – How will you manage the rising number of tourists coming to Abu Dhabi especially with the rising expectation ratio of 3.1 tourists within the year 2014?
As we are looking to secure our share in the market, we had to be proactive and think forward to be one of the leading 4 star hotels in terms of tourist destination. Sands Hotel is currently under renovation and the renovation plan include the rooms.

3 – What are your special offers for the spring and summer 2014?
Sands Hotel has always been well-known as one of the best 4-star business hotels in the city in terms of location, facilities, quality of service and value for money. On the other hand, Sands has also been well-known as one of the best hotels that offers Arabic and international cuisines with an array of appetizing specialties. 4 – Do you have any intention of bringing new services to your guests and visitors during the coming period?
After the completion of the renovation, Sands Hotel will apply a new service that will ease the business traveler’s trip and make their stay fruitful and successful. As we all know that for the business travelers, every minute matters. In this regard, Sands Hotel is offering the business express service which includes check-in from airport or instant desk check-in, in-room jet-lag recovery kit, 24/7 business center and health club facilities, in-house secretarial and simultaneous translation services.

5- What is the growth of occupancy of your hotel at the first quarter of 2014?
For Q1 2014, the figures shows increase in terms of occupancy by 4.2% despite the fact that there were no major events that took place in 2014 like IDEX as second major event in Abu Dhabi city and that shows that Abu Dhabi as a destination is increasing its share not only from the international business segment but also leisure segment as well, comparing to last year.
