Bay La Sun Hotel & Marina in King Abdullah Economic City wins world travel award as Saudi Arabia’s Leading Destination Hotel 2014

King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) was a leading participant in the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC 2014) titled “A View of Hotel Investment over a Decade”, which was held 4-5 May at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Department for Civil Aviation, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline.

In parallel to AHIC, the World Travel Awards Middle East Gala Ceremony was held on 4th of May at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai where Bay La Sun Hotel & Marina, the first hotel in KAEC managed by Al-Khozama, was recognized as Saudi Arabia’s Leading New Destination Hotel category.

As a keynote speaker at AHIC, Mr. Fahd Al-Rasheed, Managing Director and CEO of King Abdullah Economic City, presented the City’s vision and future plans for tourism and hospitality.

He said: “KAEC plays a significant role and has great impact on social and economic development, both in the region and the kingdom in specific. We have plans to develop 10 New Hotels by 2020, adding 2000 hotel rooms to the market to meet the growth in the number of visitors and become the leading destination for Business, leisure and extended services for religious tourism within the kingdom.”

When asked about the award, Mr. Al-Rasheed, added: “Our success in winning the award for Saudi Arabia’s Leading Destination Hotel 2014 is a great testament to the highest standards of hospitality provided by Bay La Sun Hotel & Marina where KAEC’s first hotel offers its guests total comfort in a beautiful location on the canals and marina.”

Bay La Sun Hotel & Marina consists of 195 rooms complemented by world class facilities including a conference and banquet hall, seven meeting rooms, a restaurant, a mosque, gym and, soon to come, a Marina and yacht club.
