The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has endorsed the support of TAMANI Marina Hotel for the Emiratisation in the hospitality industry and presented an Appreciation Certificate to recognize its role and contribution towards achieving the goal of providing job opportunities for the UAE nationals in the fastest-growing economic sector.

Sherif Elibrashy, Director of Sales at Tamani Marina Hotel, received the Certificate of Appreciation from Ibrahim Yaqoot, Executive Director for Corporate Support, HR and Training Solutions at the DTCM, the regulatory body for the tourism industry in the Emirate of Dubai, in the presence of a large gathering of tourism industry stakeholders and government officials.

The certificate was presented at the Graduation Day Ceremony of the DTCM and American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute’s START Hospitality programme for the UAE national job seekers held at Mina Al Salaam. TAMANI Marina Hotel is a member of the DTCM Emirtisation Task Force for Tourism (ETFT).

The DTCM had set up the ETFT in 2002 to encourage more Emiratis to join the sector. It works to increase awareness among UAE national jobseekers and their families besides training the jobseekers with skills for the hospitality sector. That year, there were 10 Emiratis working in the Dubai’s hotel industry. Today, the hospitality industry has an estimated 3,160 Emiratis, according to DTCM. The department wants to increase the number of Emiratis in the sector by 15% a year until 2020.

The National HR and Employment Authority (TANMIA) predict that approximately 200,000 UAE nationals will join the country’s workforce over the next decade.

Early this year, TAMANI Marina Hotel has taken on a polyglot UAE national as a concierge as part of the plans to employ more Emiratis in the hospitality sector. A team from the Human Resources Department of the five-star, ISO 9001-certified hotel met several Emirati nationals at the Careers UAE 2014 and took the opportunity to explain to them the career opportunities in the hospitality sector and the openings available at TAMANI Marina Hotel and Hotel Apartment.

Sherif Elibrashy said: “We fully support the government’s efforts to provide employment to Emiratis. We found young and qualified Emiratis very enthusiastic about making their mark in the hospitality industry. We have been providing training opportunities for Emirati students during the summer break. We are keen on employing physically challenged persons in suitable positions.”

TAMANI Marina Hotel and Hotel Apartment has been actively participating in various initiatives of the DTCM. It participated in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM-2014) under the Dubai Stand put up by the DTCM to market and promote Dubai tourism products offering and brand globally utilizing the world’s third biggest travel industry show.

TAMANI Marina Hotel also joined the DTCM in the efforts to encourage and attract UAE nationals for the hospitality industry jobs through the 14th edition of Careers UAE, a specialized job and training fair focused on UAE nationals. The hotel offers 245 units spread over 55 stories in the picturesque Dubai Marina and overlooking The Palm.
