TAMANI Marina Hotel and Hotel Apartment added prestigious hospitality industry recognition to its portfolio after bagging the silver award in the Best Environmental Hotel category at the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Travel Awards presented during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM-2014) in Dubai.

The 10th edition of the awards programme was held at the Conrad Dubai Hotel and had been organized by Consultants of Hospitality Administrators (CHA International). This is the third consecutive year that TAMANI Marina Hotel had won the MENA Travel Awards, having won the silver awards in the same category in the 2012 and 2013 editions.

Over 700 of senior management and representatives of leading travel and tourism companies and hotels from the MENA region participated in the gala awards ceremony. Awards were given in 18 different categories.

The winners were selected through electronic voting by the industry’s end-users, guests, customers and trade professionals over 59 days duration. Consequently, the data base programme robotically consolidated and ranked the top six nominees for each category based on the number of votes received.

Price Waterhouse Coopers performed a limited diagnostics over the controls for the award voting process used for MENA Travel Awards. In order to assure the integrity of the voting system, a random 20 calls per entrant per category were made to voters and verification of voting conducted. Out of final six, the top three winners (Platinum, Gold and Silver) were determined by points count.

The awards programme has been formed to annually to celebrate the skills, creativity, ingenuity and triumph of the Middle East and North Africa’s growing travel industry, while honoring the successful entrants in each of the industry categories; and those who are considered to be the best in their specific sector.

Walid Al-Awa, General Manager, TAMANI Marina Hotel and Hotel Apartment, said: “This was our third participation in the awards programme and we have won for the third consecutive year. This not only shows our dedication to our commitments, but also the trust we have built and maintained in a very short span of time since entering the hospitality industry.”

Dr. Sam Saker, President of CHA-International, said: “There is a need to recognize the significant contributions of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. We would like to change the widely held perception or stereotype that the five-star hotels in the region are equivalent, in service and product quality, to the four-star hotels in Europe and North America.”

TAMANI Marina Hotel offers 245 units spread over 55 stories in the picturesque Dubai Marina and overlooking The Palm. The hotel has to its credit several industry and government-sponsored recognitions including the Best Luxury Suite Hotel award given by the World Luxury Hotel Award (WLHA) in Thailand in 2013.
