From here he painted his famous views down the Thames towards the House of Parliament. Not only will guests be able to enjoy the breathtaking views that inspired the great artist, they will also receive expert art tuition in the suite to enable them to create their own interpretation of Monet’s work. The Monet Suite Experience comprises a two-night stay in The Monet Suite, where a selection of art materials will be provided for guests’ use.

During the two day programme, experienced artist and art teacher Neil Meacher will visit the Monet Suite and provide four hours expert tuition on how to create a painting of the same views of the Thames that inspired Monet. For further inspiration Neil Meacher will also conduct a guided tour of the Impressionists’ work currently on show in the nearby National Gallery.

The programme has been designed to appeal to complete beginners or enthusiastic amateurs and is a rare opportunity to follow in the footsteps of one of the world’s greatest painters.

Five-star art

It was James McNeil Whistler, who first established The Savoy’s links with the art world when he painted the scaffolding of the hotel as it was being built. Claude Monet followed him as a guest of the hotel as did Oscar Kokoschka and Andy Warhol.

As a result of such connections the hotel has recently launched The Savoy Art Collection and The Savoy artist-in-residence scheme, with Peter Brown as the first incumbent. The first Savoy Art Collection comprises of a collection of Peter Browns limited edition prints executed around The Savoy and the Thames and two Monet prints.
