UNWTO to help Qatar develop tourism sector

Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) have signed a cooperation agreement for the second and third phases of the Gulf country’s tourism sector development, the Peninsula has reported. To be implemented in 14 months, the new agreement will focus on three important pillars of tourism sector development, according to Amr Abdel-Ghaffar, UNWTO Regional Director for the Middle East. “One is on product development and investment promotion, second is human resource development which includes education and training and third is on nine areas of empowering abilities of QTA officials to measure movements and economic impact of the tourism sector,” said Abdel-Ghaffar.
